In 2004, facing the demand for large-scale power plant desulfurization retrofits brought about by China’s environmental protection upgrades, Shenxi Machinery took the lead in developing China’s first aerial work platform specifically designed for chimney inner wall corrosion protection construction. This platform was successfully applied for the first time in the second phase of the Jiangyin Ligang Power Plant project in 2005. The product received high praise from Dutch corrosion experts for its superior performance and passed the professional certification of the Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Machinery Testing Center in the same year, officially ushering in a new era of mechanized construction for chimney inner walls.
Shenxi’s suspended platform for power plant chimneys has achieved three core technological breakthroughs, addressing the needs of the semi-enclosed environment, variable diameter structure, and high-intensity corrosion resistance of power plant chimneys. The highly synchronous drive system utilizes 13 LTD hoists working in concert, with motor speed errors controlled within 0.3%, ensuring absolutely synchronized vertical movement of the suspended platform at a height of 200 meters. Regarding superior wear resistance, the hoist gears are made of 40Cr alloy steel, undergoing a tempering and nitriding heat treatment process; the worm gear is made of tin-phosphorus bronze, capable of withstanding the harsh environment of corrosive particles inside the chimney. The dual-platform high-efficiency operation design allows for separate construction of the inner and outer platforms, equipped with an adjustable variable diameter extension mechanism; the independent personnel and material transport platform supports parallel construction and material transport, significantly improving overall operational efficiency.
The suspended platform adopts a high-quality square tube duplex structure, and its diameter can be flexibly customized according to the inner diameter of the chimney, typically ranging from 3 to 8 meters, perfectly fitting the curved surface of the inner wall. The entire machine is equipped with aviation-grade special steel wire ropes and heavy-duty special cables, and the safety lock core is made of imported stainless steel. It is the first aerial work platform in China to pass 100 impact tests.
After more than two decades of continuous iteration and technological accumulation, Shenxi’s suspended chimney platform has captured over 50% of the Chinese desulfurization retrofit market. Representative projects are located throughout China, including Jiangyin Ligang Power Plant, Guangdong Aoli Oil Power Plant, Guangdong Shanwei Power Plant, Guangdong Huilai Power Plant, Yangzhou Second Power Plant, Zhangjiagang Power Plant, Shandong Zoucheng Power Plant, Shandong Qufu Power Plant, Shanxi Taiyuan Power Plant, and Inner Mongolia Datang Power Plant. In the international market, its products have been successfully applied to overseas projects such as the Hanoi Power Plant in Vietnam and the Hongsa Power Plant in Laos. Shenxi Machinery has established long-term and stable strategic partnerships with dozens of professional chimney desulfurization retrofit companies, including Dalian Gude Anticorrosion, Shanghai Zhongdian Construction, Jiangsu Xinda High-Altitude Anticorrosion, and Beijing Datang Liyuan Anticorrosion.
As a standard setter in China’s aerial work platform industry, Shenxi Machinery has participated in drafting several national standards, including those for suspended aerial work platforms and window cleaning machines. The company has established the Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Aerial Work Platforms and a provincial-level postdoctoral research station, and possesses the only authorized vocational skills assessment station for aerial work platforms in China. To date, Shenxi Machinery has obtained over 150 patents, including nearly 40 invention patents. In 2014, the company established the first National Aerial Work Platform Engineering Technology Research Institute, continuously leading the industry’s technological innovation.
