Marine Suspended Platform: Specialized aerial work platform for shipbuilding, hull rust removal and painting

Shipbuilding and repair yards operate near the sea, where the air is filled with high salt spray and high moisture content. The complex high-altitude construction spaces for hull sections, bulkhead facades, and hull plating present significant challenges. General-purpose floating platforms for construction lack sufficient corrosion resistance and have limited functionality, making them unsuitable for the unique working conditions of shipyards. Shenxi’s CUG500 marine floating platform is specifically designed for the shipbuilding industry. It features C5-M marine-grade heavy-duty anti-corrosion technology, dual safety locks, a fully waterproof electrical control system, and is equipped with a traveling trolley and electric rope retractor. It covers the entire process from hull section assembly and outfitting welding to refurbishment, rust removal, and painting of old ships, making it a core piece of equipment for high-altitude operations in shipyards.

Unlike ordinary suspended platforms with simple spray coating protection, the CUG500 uses C5-M marine heavy-duty anti-corrosion technology for the entire machine. The platform frame, hangers, and traveling mechanism all undergo sandblasting to remove rust, followed by multi-layer epoxy primer and anti-corrosion topcoat coating, making them resistant to seawater salt spray corrosion and less prone to rust and corrosion during long-term open-air storage and operation by the sea. The steel wire ropes are made of special anti-corrosion coated steel ropes, and all metal fasteners are hot-dip galvanized, making them suitable for the harsh environment of shipyards with long-term high humidity and high salinity, significantly reducing the probability of equipment corrosion and damage, extending the service life of the entire machine, and reducing the additional costs caused by frequent replacement of parts.

The safety protection configuration has been specially upgraded for ship rolling conditions, featuring dual-type safety locks for double protection. The equipment is equipped with both an LSB30II swing-arm safety lock and an SL centrifugal safety lock. When the hull rolls in the wind and the platform tilts 3°-8°, the swing-arm lock immediately locks the wire rope to prevent capsizing. In the event of a wire rope breakage and fall, the centrifugal safety lock quickly brakes and locks the rope within a short distance, providing double insurance to prevent falls from heights. The entire safety lock system is independently developed by Shenxi, has undergone hundreds of impact tests, is stable and reliable, and meets the shipyard’s stringent safety acceptance standards.

The electrical system utilizes a patented waterproof control box, suitable for shipyards with high levels of water mist and dust. The control box boasts a high level of sealing protection, with built-in multiple protections against leakage, overload, and excessive vertical travel. Explosion-proof sealed connectors are used at the wiring points to prevent short circuits caused by moisture infiltration. The control panel is simple and intuitive, allowing workers to quickly learn how to use it. Even during rust removal and painting operations that generate significant water mist, the electrical control system continues to operate stably, preventing work stoppages due to circuit failures.

The equipment comes standard with two auxiliary devices: a traveling trolley and a JP100 electric rope retractor, which significantly improves construction efficiency. The traveling trolley is equipped with an independent drive motor, which can drive the suspended platform to move smoothly laterally without repeatedly disassembling and reassembling lifting points, and can quickly switch between construction points on various facades of the hull. The electric rope retractor has built-in friction slippage and overload protection, and automatically straightens the wire rope during operation to prevent the rope from getting tangled, twisted, and worn, reducing the amount of manual rope straightening work and slowing down the rate of wire rope wear.

The CUG500 has a rated load capacity of 500kg and can accommodate multiple workers carrying welding machines, grinding machines, and spraying equipment to work simultaneously. It is widely applicable to high-altitude construction throughout the entire shipbuilding process. In the new shipbuilding stage, it is used for welding vertical joints of hull sections and tying bridge facade outfitting construction. In the ship repair and refurbishment stage, it undertakes hull rust removal, anti-corrosion primer and topcoat application, and bulkhead crack repair. The equipment can be used with U-shaped and L-shaped irregular platforms to conform to the curved surfaces of the hull and the corners of the bulkheads, eliminating construction dead angles.

As a custom-designed machine specifically for shipyards, the CUG500 boasts complete certifications, complies with national standards for aerial work platforms and ship construction safety regulations, and comes with complete testing documentation, ensuring a smooth inspection process. From its marine-grade corrosion-resistant materials and dual safety protection to its waterproof electrical controls and mobile rope-retrieval system, every aspect of the machine’s design is optimized for the high salt spray, high swaying, and multi-process working conditions of shipyards. It replaces traditional scaffolding, reducing labor and construction time for erection and dismantling, making it a cost-effective choice for high-altitude operations in shipbuilding and ship repair companies.
